One of the country's largest craft breweries has run out of carbon dioxide and has more than 60,000 litres of unfinished beer waiting for carbonation.

The country's last of two food grade CO2 plants, the Todd Energy Kāpuni plant, shutdown three weeks ago amid safety problems, leaving the industry at a head with shortages and sky rocketing importing costs.

Wellington based Garage Project announced today its brewery had officially run out of CO2 at one of its sites.

Waiting for a boilerplate press release from the Beehive assuring as "This is fine." (Optionally blaming cost of living, Ukraine and Covid for lack of supply.)

But Kerr believed inflation was close to its peak, if it had not already peaked, and that the Reserve Bank would be cutting interest rates before the year was out.

About half of the inflation New Zealanders had experienced had come from overseas and he held out hope inflation could fall to 4% by the end of the year.

“I think that'll be the big story for the second half of this year; central bank's not only finishing hiking, but actually starting to provide some support.”

Not this year. Beehive spent too much money it does not have and America will (again) raise the debt ceiling and print more. Stagflation is around the corner.

It requires a considerable imaginative effort to understand the behaviour of the Christchurch Mongrel Mob. Commandeering Christchurch hospital carparks. (Having first “commandeered” a number of road cones.) Intimidating hospital staff and patients. Revving their guttural motorcycles at all hours of the day and night. Why would anybody do that?

Hospitals are generally considered to be places of refuge and sanctuary: institutions where all kinds of aggressive, anti-social behaviours likely to impede the treatment and recovery of patients is strictly forbidden. Even in the midst of a full-scale armed conflict like that currently devastating Ukraine, an attack on a hospital is treated as a particular heinous war crime. To interfere with the treatment of those suffering from injury or illness: acutely stressed and vulnerable human-beings; indicates a truly disturbing level of depravity. Who could do such a thing? More to the point, who could allow such a thing to be done?

The money shot:

All well and good, but the public expects – and has every right to expect – that clear breaches of the law, not to mention “the peace”, are confronted as and when they happen.

Great piece by Chris Trotter, stay for the comments.

A new lake formed by a landslide in the Waiorongomai Valley is being closely watched ahead of expected heavy rain, which is seeing Tairāwhiti's state of emergency extended.

The lake was created by a large landslide on privately-owned land, and is thought to be about 1km long in length.

Rain brought by cyclone Hale ravaged the region last week, causing floods, slips and power cuts. A state of emergency in Tairāwhiti was expected to be lifted at 10pm this evening, but will now remain in place.

Nature is as nature does.

Covid and our Kiwi Kids - Part 2

Cranmer (NZ) 16/01/2023

By early October 2021 the media started to run stories that promoted the New Zealand government’s new Covid line - ‘Two Shots for Summer’ - meant to encourage all young people to get their two doses of Pfizer vaccine in order to be able to enjoy their summer with some freedoms after months of lockdown.

One such article in RNZ began: “That’s the edgy, and somewhat boozey, tag line the government’s relying on to encourage better vaccination rates in our younger population”.

The only problem was that that was not what the government’s technical experts were recommending. In fact, the minutes from the 7 December meeting of the Covid-19 Technical Advisory Group (CV TAG) and its subsequent memo setting out their recommendations to government represented their strongest worded advice during all of 2021.

Part 2, going deeper down the rabbit hole.

Excellent work.

Retail Thefts up 300%

Kiwiblog (NZ) 15/01/2023

Polices own Data shows "Theft from Retail" has accelerated by 300% over 5 years. Its not a spike, its a trend before the pandemic. Woke policing has cultivated and emboldened crime in NZ and is directly caused by #bekindtociminals policy deployed by #NZlabour #nzpol pic.twitter.com/bhrt4s3q9L

— Dave Williams (@DaveWilNZ) January 14, 2023

Two interesting facts in these charts. The first is that retail thefts have gone from around 2,000 to 6,000 which is a tripling since 2018 (and was steady before that).

The second is that less than 8% of retail thefts have resulted in court action. This probably explains why retail crime is out of control – no consequences for the criminals involved.

NZ Farmers and Meat the Need bridge the poverty gap

Daily Encourager (NZ) 02/12/2022

Since early 2020, premium mince for one million meals has been donated by New Zealand farmers through Meat the Need, supported by processing partner, Silver Fern Farms. The mince is distributed to food banks and community organisations throughout the country.

Sarah Gagliardi, Operations Manager of Meat the Need, says food insecurity, especially access to high quality protein, is a “very real” issue for many people.

“Meat the Need provides a platform for farmers to donate some of what they produce, when they can, which is then put into the hands of those who need it most. It means farmers across the nation are playing an important role in helping our communities struggling from food insecurity.”

Organising that which the government is not capable off.

Flying under the radar, the BBC has been accused of orchestrating an alliance of legacy media outlets and social media sites to suppress competition from alternative media. This is entitled “The Trusted News Initiative”.

An antitrust lawsuit filed on January 10th 2023 in the US has obtained documents which they say indicate that the BBC joined with the Washington Post, Reuters, AP, Meta, Google, Twitter, and others in order to protect their business models from competition. Whilst publicly talking about suppressing misinformation, documents indicate that the real intention was to exclude other information platforms, whether their reports were true or not.

Australia

Australian Bruce, AI generated art.

What was the mistake, exactly? Well, they waited too long to start raising rates, and as I wrote in that piece last February, the longer you wait the more rates have to rise, and more quickly.

Now they’re in danger of getting left behind again – on the way down – because they have resumed the grotesque idea that human misery is the only way to control prices – that is, using unemployment and putting families into mortgage stress.

All the mainstream experts kept saying not to worry about inflation and that low rates were perfectly fine.

The independent analysts said "That is a recipe for disaster, the rates need to go up." and "You cannot borrow money for Covid support and not expect an impact on the economy down the line."

"May you live in interesting times"

Pringle filed her FOI request with the Central Adelaide Local Health Network on June 20, 2022, requesting “the following people provide emails sent and received by them referring to Nikolai Petrovsky, and/or Vaxine Pty Ltd, Louise Flood, Michael Cusack, Nicola Spurrier, Chris McGowan”.

Petrovsky has been publicly critical of COVID-19 vaccines approved by the federal government’s Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) and an advocate of Vaxine Pty Ltd’s own coronavirus jab, Covax-19.

Petrovsky’s vaccine has not been approved by the TGA.

Pringle, Petrovksy’s wife, told InDaily she was seeking access to information related to Vaxine Pty Ltd’s clinical trials and vaccine mandate exemptions for participants.

Australian company makes a protein based vaccine on-shore, ends up effectively ignored and many entities being uncooperative when reaching out in good faith.

Collapse of the $35 billion Sun Cable

The Spectator (AU) 16/01/2023

Last week saw the collapse of Sun Cable, a pie-in-the-sky $35 billion plan by alternative energy enthusiasts, Andrew Forrest and Mike Cannon-Brookes, to generate solar energy and transport it by cable 4,200 kilometres to Singapore. The taxpayer provided $14 million for the project’s solar system, Australian-developed 5B. But major spending, which amounted to $210 million before Andrew Forrest pulled the plug, came from the two entrepreneurs.

Last week also saw Energy Minister Chris Bowen release his consultation for the disarmingly named Powering the Regions Fund. A centrepiece of this was weaponising the ‘Safeguard Mechanism’ from the emission reporting requirement that the Coalition introduced, into a requirement that the top 215 facilities reduce their emissions by 30 per cent by 2030 or buy carbon credits at a cost of up to $75 per tonne.

Eco-facism is expensive.

Headline is a bit misleading though, only the first paragraph relates to it. The rest of the article is all about those fine people in Canberra.

How Dick Cheney created Anthony Fauci

UnHerd (US) 29/08/2022

Few people in America today are as powerful and polarising as Anthony Fauci. For the Left, Fauci is a consummate cool-headed scientist, emblematic of the essential role of government. On the Right, he is a Deep State operative who destroyed the lives of countless people to serve a hidden agenda, all while mysteriously taking home a bigger paycheck than any other of the country’s two million federal employees (including their collective boss, the President).

The reality is that both narratives fundamentally misunderstand the position Fauci occupies in American government. Far from being a public health expert, Fauci sits at the very top of America’s biodefence infrastructure. And contrary to the notion that he is a Deep State string-puller of the Democratic party, it was George W. Bush and Dick Cheney who not only put Fauci there but created the very framework that the immunologist-physician commands.

America is a very strange place.

A fine ending, also the comment section.

Eat bugs and live in a pod.

The globalists and freaks in the left-wing media are trying to convince people to eat bugs.

Eating bugs is degrading and that’s why the elitists are pushing them as a “sustainable” source of protein for the peasants.

According to a new study, ‘beetleburgers’ made from mealworms will hit mass production to help feed the world.

And then it turns out, ingesting large amounts of Chitin is bad for humans.

I just got off the phone with Megan Mansell who is an expert on industrial hygiene including face masks and respirators. She told me she challenged former US Surgeon General Jerome Adams on his advice about face masks on Twitter.

Adams indignantly asked her for her qualifications.

She then rattled through her long list of qualifications. Suffice it to say, there are only a few people in America who are more qualified to speak on this subject than she is. And none of them will challenge what she says.

Adams, realizing he was talking to someone capable of calling him out, then did what any legitimate scientist would do when challenged: he blocked her on Twitter!

Sad! Many such cases.

(And more to come no doubt.)

The Re-education of Dr Sally Price

Rebekah Barnett (AU) 15/01/2023

The AMA’s Code of Ethics states that doctors must, “consider first the well-being of the patient,” (Article 2.1.1) and that they must provide full informed consent before undertaking any tests, treatments or procedures (Article 2.1.4). Dr Price says that AHPRA’s position statement and hawkish regulatory behaviour put the public health agenda before the patient and made it “impossible” for doctors to provide valid informed consent to patients.

AHPRA’s unilateral decision that all doctors must fall in line with the vaccination rollout was also in conflict with the AMA Code’s provision that doctors may conscientiously object to providing certain treatments or procedures (Article 2.1.13), and that they may publicly state opinions contrary to the status quo (Article 4.3.3). Further, the Code requires that doctors “practise effective stewardship, the avoidance or elimination of wasteful expenditure in health care...” (Article 4.4.1), and that they use their “knowledge and skills to assist those responsible for allocating health care resources, advocating for their transparent and equitable allocation.” (Article 4.4.3) These articles imply a responsibility for doctors to speak out and take action when they believe that public health policy could be improved upon.

And this is how you loose good doctors and nurses.

Background: Concerns have been raised recently regarding the efficacy and safety of Botulinum toxin type A (BTA) injections following COVID-19 vaccination.

Results: Forty-five patients were eligible for inclusion in the current study. The mean (standard deviation [SD]) age of patients was 48.3 (8.9) years and 40 (88.9%) patients were females. The mean (SD) number of pre- and post-COVID-19 vaccination BTA injections was 5.1 (2.6) and 3.1 (0.4), respectively. The average (SD) interval between BTA injections after COVID-19 vaccination (96.0 [12.3] days) was significantly shorter than before it (118.6 [22.7]; p < 0.001). No severe BTA-associated adverse events were registered after the administration of BNT162b2 vaccine.

Conclusions: Our findings indicate that BTA might be less effective after COVID-19 vaccination. Further research is required to delineate the pathomechanism underlying this observation.

Summary: Among 51011 working-aged Cleveland Clinic employees, the bivalent COVID-19 vaccine booster was 30% effective in preventing infection, during the time when the virus strains dominant in the community were represented in the vaccine.

See Figure 2. The more you have been jabbed, the higher risk you are at catching covid.

It reads very much like "we have to say the right things else we do not get published", ergo:

In conclusion, this study found an overall modest protective effect of the bivalent vaccine booster against COVID-19, among working-aged adults. The effect of multiple COVID-19 vaccine doses on future risk of COVID-19 needs further study.

Comedian Leaves Oxford Union SPEECHLESS

TRIGGERnometry (UK) 14/01/2023

Konstantin Kisin speaking at the Oxford Union for the motion "This House Believes Wokeness Has Gone Too Far".

"I don't have to make the point, that has been made by far better people in the past, that the only way to deal with the problem of racism is to treat people on the content of their character and nothing else. The fact that woke culture seeks to overturn that, is a new form of racism that we must all oppose."

This and more in 8 minutes.
