Today is the 19th of January. Waar is the hagelslag?
Speaking this afternoon, Ardern said she reflected over the summer and tried to find a way to keep going for another year and another term but she could not.
"After going on six years of some big challenges, I am human. Politicians are human. For me, it's time...
"So today I'm announcing that I will not be seeking re-election and my term as prime minister will conclude no later than the 7th of February.
"I believe that leading a country is the most privileged job anyone could ever have but also one of the more challenging. You cannot and should not do it unless you have a full tank plus a bit in reserve for those unexpected challenges."
And with that, her legacy is set. 2 terms, unopposed. Which for a modern day leader on this side of the planet is, in fairness, quite the feat.
Now the next question is, why the timing, what horrors will be coming out of the woodwork? I can think of a few.

Census collectors visiting homes across New Zealand will be carrying panic alarms as a safety measure against a post-Covid rise in anti-government feeling.
The alarms can alert security teams should any of the more than 3000 census collectors, who are currently being hired to work the eight weeks from the end of January through to April, feel threatened while door knocking.
It’s understood the move is in response to a risk of doorstep antagonism. An applicant said recruitment agencies told them increased safety measures were “in anticipation of huge anti-government sentiment”.
Since there is a "Qanon / right-wing conspiracy extremist" hiding behind every door in New Zealand. Right?
Tax payer funds that could have been better spend.
Duncan Garner’s analysis also looked at what he considers Luxon’s big weakness – being unwilling or unable to explain what his party would do in power. He says Luxon will “need to be more decisive and be clear about what National will prioritise and get done. I detect voters are unconvinced by Luxon and may even be suspicious – I’m mainly talking about swinging voters here. And I am still confused about what National’s key policies are, what it stands for, and what it will prioritise.”
Others on the political right are also sceptical about National coming up with a convincing alternative to the current Government. For example, Ben Thomas writes this month that National “will surely have to put up some sort of agenda of change. While some of its MPs have been tweeting change is on the way, National hardly has an agenda to get voters excited. Its platform so far is largely based on scrapping initiatives Labour already has underway.”
National, at this point remains Labour-Light.

This, ofcourse, isgoingtobe avery different election from that in2020,when thenationwas still afflictedby the trauma of Covid andArdernhadacquiredtheaura ofsaviour. NZ had not been afflictedwithanythinglike Covidsince the Great Flu of 1918.
But iftheArdern government captured the gratitudeof NZersat the height of thepandemic, itseemed to forfeit it justasrapidly. And, as ayearof burgeoning inflation ended, political punditswere predicting theArdern government washeading towards an election with the word “DEFEAT”written in capital letters.
Sniffing thepoliticalbreezeduringthe summerbreak,ArdernandRobertson may thinkotherwise, evenif thepublic pollsindicated supportfor Labourhaddriftedto levels notseen forsome years.
Make Ardern Go Away.
This just in: Ardern is going away.
The Māori Health Authority, Three Waters and Māori seats on councils were achievements Ardern said the Government was proud of. Ardern said she was “comfortable” the government was doing its best to fulfil obligations under the Treaty of Waitangi. –Will Trafford, New Zealand Herald, 10 January 2023
The prime minister needs to look carefully at the documents we have signed up to and need to honour, before she pats herself on the back for her divisive, dishonest and undemocratic policies. In 1840 the Crown agreed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi (Treaty of Waitangi) and in 1948 the then Labour Government signed The United Nations International Declaration of Human Rights. A few years ago a journalist asked Ardern if could recite a particular Article of the Treaty. She couldn’t.
Two-tier society? This is fine.
Ardern’s deception on He Puapua will haunt her in 2023. Like Prince Harry, Ardern refuses to take responsibility for her actions.
Having gained office once through (Winston’s) selection, then through deception, Jacinda Ardern proceeded to put all her government’s blood sweat and tears (and our taxes) into an agenda no one knew about, but which Nanaia Mahuta’s tax-funded family were working on behind the scenes before the 2020 election.
Two years later, having divided the country with her unpopular race-based policies, she announces she won’t be campaigning on race. With no (promised) public consultation in 2022, and laws passed to legitimise them (Three Waters and the Health restructure), she is still in denial.
Hear, Hear!
In a recent speech at Oxford University, renowned thinker and writer Peter Hitchens lamented that conservativism is dead in Western society, that the left has succeeded in conducting a Marxist revolution that began 60 years ago, and that most of us didn’t notice it happen.
Observing the public reaction to unproven allegations of sexual abuse crimes against women of late, I’m becoming more and more convinced Hitchens is right.
The money shot:
Everything seems the same on the outside, as Peter Hitchens noted, but underneath a rot has set in. The Salem witch-hunt logic of Australia’s so-called intelligentsia class is a very disturbing, and currently highly visible, sign.
Consumer advocates, economists, and other experts have discussed how Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) investments have contributed to the decades-high inflation America continues to experience.
“ESG-driven inflation is pushing higher prices on hardworking American consumers and forcing taxpayers to pay the bill for the progressive agenda of megalomaniacs like BlackRock CEO Larry Fink,” Will Hild, the executive director of Consumers’ Research, told Breitbart News in a statement. “With supply chains still being disrupted and prioritization of liberal political goals forcing higher prices at the grocery store and the gas pump, it’s clear ESG is a major factor.”
Eco-Facism, hard at work.
The government of the Netherlands has announced plans to force the sale and closure of 3,000 farms in order to meet strict new environmental guidelines put in place by the European Union.
Although the purchases will apparently be made on generous terms of up to 120 percent of the farms’ value, the Dutch government has already made clear that purchases will be mandated, if required.
“There is no better offer coming,” Christianne van der Wal – Minister for Nature and Nitrogen – told Dutch Members of Parliament last week. Compulsory purchases would be made with “pain in the heart”, the government claimed.
Still surprisingly little coverage of this, which has now been going on for months. I wonder (((why))).
I usually am not a fan of journalists shouting questions at unwilling politicians outside of Congress and such, because the person is unlikely to answer and it’s simply unbecoming to be yelling at people just walking to their office. But Levan and Ali are not screaming, they’re not threatening, and they’re calmly posing Bourla the questions we all want to ask—and he refuses to answer a single one of them.
This.
Millions of people around the world were forced to take Pfizer’s ineffective vaccines due to government and business mandates, and an untold number experienced vaccine injuries. It’s shameful that Bourla refuses to answer for anything, and it’s equally shameful that despite there being an army of “accredited” journalists at Davos, not a single one will ask Bourla these questions.
Especially This.
So far, the U.S. has allocated $113 billion in assistance to Ukraine, which includes $24.2 billion in security assistance since the conflict began in February 2022.
Much of what the U.S. has supplied to Ukraine has come from its military’s own stocks. The Biden administration has dipped into those inventories 29 times, using what is known as “Presidential Drawdown Authority,” or PDA.
But now the flow of weapons is running up against current supplies and the production capacity of the defense industry.

The Swiss escort agencies near Davos are already fully booked ahead of this year’s World Economic Forum, the elite gathering that brings together heads of state, corporate executives, and influential non-profiteers, Austrian outlet Exxpress reported on Sunday, citing a missive purportedly sent from one such agency.
In a message to unnamed hospitality staff and published by Exxpress, escort agency Sensuallounge Escort urges readers to book their “fine selection of ladies and gentlemen” ahead of time to ensure “the best possible care and company during the World Economic Forum.”
At-least some proof these humans have human wants and needs.
"While Mr. Bankman-Fried is accused of serious financial crimes, a public association with him does not carry nearly the same stigma as with the Jeffrey Epstein child sex trafficking scandal," wrote lawyers for the outlets.
Notably, the judge in the SBF case is the same one who presided over Ghislaine Maxwell's case, while SBF's lawyers, Mark Cohen and Christian Everdell, also represented Maxwell in her criminal case. SBF also hired James P. Harkins, a private investigator known as the "real hound dog," who also worked for Ghislaine.
Certainly a man who keeps good company.
He's gonna walk.
Tokyo, Japan – When Eriko Sairyo, a 30-year-old professional who lives in Shizuoka, Japan, saw that American pop singer Gwen Stefani was being accused of “cultural appropriation” in Western media, she couldn’t understand the controversy.
“I personally think that it’s pretty cool that people want to incorporate Japanese styles into their fashion,” Sairyo, who works in the medical devices industry, told Al Jazeera.
“I don’t have any issues when, for example, foreigners wear kimono and walk around Kyoto for sightseeing. I actually love it that people love our culture.”
In an interview with Allure magazine published last week, Stefani, 53, sparked outrage across English-language media and social media with remarks expressing the deep sense of connection she feels with Japanese culture.
When virtue signalling hits a brick wall. Never change Japan.
it seems like you cannot swing a sack of desperate epidemiologists around your head these days without hitting another “model” claiming that “vaccines saved upmteen squinjillion lives” but i fear these these weapons of mass deception are just overwrought GIGO engines that run on bad assumption, bad data, and worse study design/definitional hijinks.
but there is a simple truth test to these matters: if these vaccines were anything like as efficacious as claimed, dosing them into 70%+ of populations (and 90-95% of high risk of death populations) then they would be bending the covid curves like neutrons stars bend spacetime.
the effects would not be subtle.
And rest assured, the "bends" we now have are not going go away any time soon.
The COVID experimental emergency medical countermeasures (EEMCs, as separate and distinct from pharmaceuticals) produced under the command and control of the US. of Defense (currently referred to as “COVID-19 vaccines) have caused more deaths and serious adverse events than any drug in the history of the pharmaceutical industry.Hundreds of thousands or even millions of people have likely died yet drug regulators (including the US FDA and the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration, TGA) around the world continue to say they are “safe and efficacious” and usually produce only mild or only rare serious adverse effects (eg heart inflammation, blood clots, strokes, death etc)?
What allows the kabuki theatre to continue despite people of all ages, including children, dying in huge numbers since the introduction of the EEMCs?How can this go on any longer?
Based Altman, now has a Substack and is not pulling any punches.
Far from being an obscure immunology topic, knowledge about the IgG4 antibody subclass (intended by nature for allergens and such) being suboptimal for immune response to a replicating virus such as Sars-Cov-2 was well known in immunology.
Even Dr. Fauci co-authored a 2015 Science Translational Medicine study that negatively spoke of IgG4 antibodies from repeat injections as undesirable in vaccine response.
Much like VAIDS, ADE, VADE and friends.
Introducing "foreign" proteins into the body is something that should be done with great care.
From 2015:
If one does not pull any punches, he speaks bluntly.
Why is this idiom phrased this way?
Is it because the motion of a punch, i.e., to speak bluntly, can be described as a push, which is the opposite of a pull, and thus to pull a punch would be to minimize the impact of the punch, i.e., to not speak bluntly?
What is the origination of this phrase?
I was pleasantly surprised how far back the history for this phrase goes.
The international public health sector comprises the World Health Organization (WHO), a growing bevy of other international health agencies and numerous non-governmental organizations and foundations. Ostensibly its role is to support global society in maintaining overall health. By WHO’s definition, health is the ‘physical, mental and social wellbeing’ of all people, in equal measure. For reasons of promoting equality and human rights, the sector focuses on populations in low-income countries where life expectancies are lower and resources most limited. Various rules on conflict of interest, together with the traditional unprofitability of poor people’s healthcare, had once kept the private sector mostly uninvolved and uninterested. WHO’s lifeblood funding was restricted to assessed national contributions of its Member States.
Over the past two decades, the growth of mass vaccination has provided a viable way to extract profit from the healthcare of these low-income populations. Reflecting this, private interests and corporations have become keen to fund WHO’s work. These sources follow a ‘directed funding’ model through which they specify how and where their sponsorship will be used.
There is no altruism, only profit.
Lightning discharges between charged clouds and the Earth’s surface are responsible for considerable damages and casualties. It is therefore important to develop better protection methods in addition to the traditional Franklin rod. Here we present the first demonstration that laser-induced filaments—formed in the sky by short and intense laser pulses—can guide lightning discharges over considerable distances. We believe that this experimental breakthrough will lead to progress in lightning protection and lightning physics. An experimental campaign was conducted on the Säntis mountain in north-eastern Switzerland during the summer of 2021 with a high-repetition-rate terawatt laser.
The guiding of an upward negative lightning leader over a distance of 50 m was recorded by two separate high-speed cameras. The guiding of negative lightning leaders by laser filaments was corroborated in three other instances by very-high-frequency interferometric measurements, and the number of X-ray bursts detected during guided lightning events greatly increased. Although this research field has been very active for more than 20 years, this is the first field-result that experimentally demonstrates lightning guided by lasers. This work paves the way for new atmospheric applications of ultrashort lasers and represents an important step forward in the development of a laser based lightning protection for airports, launchpads or large infrastructures.
Figure 1 looks bad ass.
The repetitive applications of vaccine boosters have been brought up in face of continuous emergence of SARS-CoV-2 variants with neutralization escape mutations, but their protective efficacy and potential adverse effects remain largely unknown. Here, we compared the humoral and cellular immune responses of an extended course of recombinant receptor binding domain (RBD) vaccine boosters with those from conventional immunization strategy in a Balb/c mice model. Multiple vaccine boosters after the conventional vaccination course significantly decreased RBD-specific antibody titers and serum neutralizing efficacy against the Delta and Omicron variants, and profoundly impaired CD4+ and CD8+T cell activation and increased PD-1 and LAG-3 expressions in these T cells. Mechanistically, we confirmed that extended vaccination with RBD boosters overturned the protective immune memories by promoting adaptive immune tolerance. Our findings demonstrate potential risks with the continuous use of SARS-CoV-2 vaccine boosters, providing immediate implications for the global COVID-19 vaccination enhancement strategies.
Interesting to note how Asian science teams are far more pro-active in this type of research then Western ones are.
